CLAT Coaching Scholarships: How to Compare LPSAT, LegalEdge, NLTI and CLATPrep Offers

A comparison guide to CLAT coaching scholarship routes from Law Prep Tutorial, LegalEdge, NLTI and CLATPrep, with costs, benefits and checks before you pay.

CLAT Coaching Scholarships: How to Compare LPSAT, LegalEdge, NLTI and CLATPrep Offers

CLAT is the common entrance test for admission to the National Law Universities, conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. Coaching for it can be expensive, which is why several law-entrance coaching institutes use scholarship tests or open mocks to offer fee waivers. The published comparison from AcademyCheck looks at four such routes: Law Prep Tutorial's LPSAT, LegalEdge's Instant Scholarship Test, NLTI's All India Open Mock and CLATPrep's Open Mock cum Scholarship Test. This guide explains what each route offers and, more importantly, how to compare the offers before paying any fee.

What these scholarships are, and what they are not

A coaching scholarship reduces the fee you pay the institute; it does not change your CLAT eligibility, give you admission to a National Law University, or guarantee a seat in any batch. The benefit is usually a percentage waiver on the coaching programme named by the institute, and the percentage depends on your score in that institute's test. Some offers apply to both online and offline courses, some exclude correspondence courses, and some are tied to a particular admission cycle. The published material also does not always state the top scholarship amount, so a headline "up to 100%" should be read as a ceiling rather than a promise.

Law Prep Tutorial: LPSAT

According to the published comparison, LPSAT is Law Prep Tutorial's scholarship test for CLAT coaching, with up to a 100% waiver based on performance. It is open to CLAT aspirants planning to join coaching, including school students and droppers. The test is described as one hour long, with one mark for a correct answer and a 0.25-mark deduction for a wrong answer. It can reportedly be attempted between 10 AM and 10 PM, registration is free, and the scholarship applies to both online and offline coaching. Results are said to be announced shortly after the test.

LegalEdge: Instant Scholarship Test

LegalEdge runs an instant scholarship test for the CLAT 2027 and 2028 cycle. The published details say the registration fee is ₹49, after which the student has a 24-hour window to attempt the test, available Monday to Saturday between 10 AM and 10 PM. It is open to students in Class 11 or 12 and to students who have passed Class 12. The scholarship applies to online or offline courses except correspondence courses, and the percentage depends on the test score. The published comparison does not state the top percentage for this route.

NLTI: All India Open Mock

NLTI's route is different: instead of a separate scholarship test, it uses a free All India Open Mock (AIOM), through which students get a chance to win up to 100% of a scholarship on NLTI's CLAT preparation programmes. Registration is free and the mock can be attempted within the announced window. The published comparison notes that the latest dates were not available on the official page when it was prepared. The mock also gives an All India Rank and a performance analysis, which has practice value even if you do not win a scholarship.

CLATPrep: Open Mock cum Scholarship Test

CLATPrep combines a full CLAT-style mock with a scholarship. The published pattern is 120 multiple-choice questions in two hours, with one mark for a correct answer and a 0.25-mark deduction for a wrong answer. It is described as an online and offline test open to Class 11 and Class 12 students, including CLAT retakers. The last edition was held on 8 March 2026, and the scholarship amount and registration fee were not stated in the published announcement. Since that date has passed, the practical step is to check CLATPrep's official website or ask the institute about the next edition.

How to compare offers before you pay

  • Percentage versus rupees. Ask for the scholarship slab and the net fee after the waiver. A 50% waiver on a higher-priced course can cost more than a smaller waiver on a cheaper one.
  • What the waiver covers. Confirm whether it applies to tuition only or also to study material, test series, hostel or other components.
  • Which batch and centre. A scholarship may apply only to specific programmes, batches or centres. Check that the batch you want is covered.
  • Online and offline. Some offers exclude correspondence courses or specific modes. Confirm the mode you plan to join.
  • Test cost and window. A free test and a ₹49 test are both small costs, but the time window and attempt rules matter more than the fee.
  • Conditions after the result. Ask whether the waiver is guaranteed once earned, how long it is valid, and whether it is conditional on paying by a deadline.
  • Refund and transfer rules. A coaching scholarship does not remove the need to read the refund policy. Get the admission terms in writing before paying.

Using the scholarship test as CLAT practice

Most of these routes are full or partial CLAT-style tests, so treat them as practice as well as a fee negotiation. CLAT tests English, current affairs and general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques. Attempting all sections under time pressure is more useful than revising only your strongest area. A regular current-affairs habit helps both the exam and the scholarship test, and a timed mock shows whether your problem is knowledge or pacing.

For the tests that deduct 0.25 marks for a wrong answer, decide your attempt strategy in advance. Blind guessing is not the same as an educated attempt after eliminating options. After each test, review the errors rather than only the score; a scholarship test you analyse carefully can improve your CLAT preparation even if the waiver is small.

Verify the current details

Percentages, test fees, dates and batch rules change. The published comparison of CLAT coaching scholarships is a useful starting point, but the deciding source should be each institute's current official page. For the exam itself, use the Consortium of NLUs website, which publishes CLAT notifications and the list of member National Law Universities. Do not pay an intermediary who promises a scholarship or a seat; pay the institute directly through the channel named on its official site and keep the receipt and the scholarship terms.

Key takeaways

  • CLAT coaching scholarships are fee waivers, not admission guarantees or exam exemptions.
  • The four routes differ in test fee, format, eligibility and what the waiver covers.
  • Law Prep Tutorial and NLTI publish up to 100% waivers; LegalEdge and CLATPrep do not state the top percentage in the published comparison.
  • Compare the net fee, batch, mode and conditions before paying any registration or admission fee.
  • Use the tests as timed CLAT practice and verify current dates and rules on official pages.
