METRE 2027 Exam Dates, Eligibility, Scholarship, Rewards and Registration Guide

METRE 2027 is the 13th edition of the Mentors Eduserv Talent Reward Exam, designed for students in Classes 5 to 11 across Bihar and Jharkhand. The current official portal advertises more than ₹28 crore in total rewards, including ₹16 crore worth of scholarships, ₹4.5 crore worth of cash rewards and scholarships of up to 100%.

This is not only a scholarship test. Mentors Eduserv positions METRE as a talent-identification exam for students who may later prepare for IIT-JEE, NEET, school examinations, boards and Olympiads. For a student or parent considering registration, the most important details are the exam mode, deadlines, class-specific marking rules and the conditions attached to rewards.

The official test-centre page currently describes the online and offline exam windows and notes that final allocation of centres and the online portal can change at METRE management’s discretion. Students choosing the offline route should therefore rely on the admit card for the final venue and timing.

Registration is free until 15 September 2026. After that date, the official FAQ states that a non-refundable fee of ₹100 applies. The online exam registration deadline is 15 September, while offline applications can be submitted until 27 September.

Who is eligible?

Students studying in Classes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 can participate. Class 11 students have separate Engineering and Medical streams reflected in the syllabus and tie-breaking rules. The exam is focused on Bihar and Jharkhand, where Mentors Eduserv says METRE attracts about one lakh participants annually.

Students can register through the official METRE 2027 portal. Offline forms are also available at Mentors Eduserv centres in Bihar and Jharkhand. Successful registration generates a METRE roll number and confirmation on the registered mobile number.

The marking rule changes after Class 6

For Classes 5 and 6, a correct answer carries four marks and there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer. For Classes 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, a correct answer carries four marks while an incorrect answer attracts a one-mark penalty.

That means younger students can attempt uncertain questions without the same penalty risk, while students from Class 7 onward should be more selective. During practice, older students should track not only their score but also how many marks they lose through avoidable guesses.

What should students study?

The official FAQ says METRE is based on the NCERT syllabus. The portal provides class-wise syllabus and sample-paper downloads for Classes 5 through 10, plus separate Class 11 Engineering and Medical options. Students should use those official materials before purchasing generic scholarship-test books because they provide a clearer picture of the intended level and subject mix.

A useful preparation method is to take one sample paper before heavy revision. Mark every wrong answer as a concept error, calculation error, reading error or guess. That diagnosis tells you what to revise. A student who understands the concepts but loses marks through negative marking needs a different plan from a student who cannot solve the underlying mathematics or science.

Rewards: read the headline and the conditions

The official portal promotes ₹28 crore-plus in total rewards, ₹16 crore in scholarships, ₹4.5 crore in cash rewards and scholarships up to 100%. It also promotes the Achiever’s Campus, where eligible students may receive education, food and lodging benefits.

Parents should not interpret the total reward pool as a guaranteed cash payment to every participant. METRE’s terms explain that the total reward amount can combine assured cash rewards, scholarship amounts, admission-linked cash rewards and food or hostel benefits. Some benefits are connected to admission or later internal-test performance.

One particularly important official condition is that students must take METRE in offline mode to receive an assured cash reward and final rank.

This makes the choice of exam mode significant for families primarily interested in rank-linked rewards. Before enrolling in any subsequent Mentors programme, read the current METRE terms and conditions carefully rather than relying only on promotional reward totals.

How ties are resolved

If students have the same aggregate score, METRE uses subject priority. For Classes 5–10, the order is Mental Ability, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For Class 11 Engineering, the order is Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; for Class 11 Medical, it is Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. If subject scores are also identical, the younger student receives the higher rank.

This rule is useful for preparation because it shows that Mental Ability can be decisive for Classes 5–10. Students should not treat it as an optional section to practise only after finishing every academic chapter.

What happens after registration?

1. Complete the online or offline application within the relevant deadline.
2. Save the roll number and mobile confirmation.
3. Download the correct class syllabus and sample paper.
4. Watch for the admit card, which will contain or lead to final venue and timing information.
5. Take the exam in the chosen mode.
6. Check results from the last week of October 2026; the official site says results will be released city-wise and class-wise.

A practical preparation plan for the remaining time

Start with the official syllabus, then divide topics into three groups: confident, needs revision and weak. Spend most of the available time on the second group, because these are usually the topics where improvement comes fastest. Weak topics that require rebuilding from the beginning should be handled selectively if the exam is very close.

• Attempt timed mixed-question sets instead of only chapter exercises.
• For Classes 7–11, practise deciding when not to guess because of the -1 penalty.
• Review Mental Ability regularly, especially for Classes 5–10.
• Use the official sample paper to understand question style and pacing.
• Keep a short error notebook and revise it before the exam.

For the offline exam, students should also practise sitting through a two-hour test without unnecessary breaks. Online candidates should test their device and connection beforehand and keep their registration information accessible.

What parents should verify before choosing METRE

First, decide what you want from the exam. If the goal is simply competitive exposure, the test can provide an external benchmark. If the goal is scholarship or cash rewards, study the terms because some benefits are tied to offline participation, admission or later performance. If the goal is coaching admission, compare the scholarship-adjusted fee and programme details rather than looking only at the scholarship percentage.

METRE can be useful when it becomes a diagnostic experience rather than a one-day race for rank. After results arrive, use the score and subject performance to identify where the student is strong and what needs work. The official portal says result declaration begins in the last week of October 2026, giving families a natural point to review performance before making the next academic decision.
